About Us

The AIDS Clinical Trials Unit Program

Since 1987, the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU) at New York City’s Beth Israel Medical Center has been at the forefront of the fight to improve the clinical care and quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS.

As one of the 35 National Institutes of Health sponsored clinical research sites that comprise the nationwide network of the Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group, the Beth Israel AIDS Clinical Trials Unit works to develop cutting-edge medications and innovative strategies to treat HIV and HIV-related opportunistic infections.

We are currently providing access to a variety of studies including:

• investigations of novel antiretroviral therapies
• trials of immunomodulators like therapeutic vaccines, and
• studies of neurologic and metabolic complications of HIV

Community Outreach

In addition to conducting clinical research, the Beth Israel AIDS Clinical Trials Unit is involved in community outreach programs aimed at persons living with HIV/AIDS, and offers consultation services for healthcare providers and community based organizations
